Built for families who are moving

Closing Friday. Movers Saturday. Flight Monday. Your car can't be the thing that breaks the plan.

That's why PODS® and U-Pack® send their customers to us. We've shipped cars for interstate moves since 2002, and we plan the car around your move, not the other way around.

  1. 01

Your price in minutes. A person who calls.

Get your price online. Then a real person on our team calls to talk it through. No phone tree, no bidding war, no 12 brokers calling you tomorrow.

  2. 02

    One team owns your car

Two Mr. Car Shipper people handle your shipment from quote to delivery. You talk to the driver twice: pickup and delivery. Everything else is our job.

  3. 03

Two cars? Drive one, ship one.

Most families moving 500+ miles have more than one car. Ship one, ship both, or drive one and ship the other. Put them all on one quote and we'll plan it.

  4. 04

    Built around your dates

Give us the first day the car can go and the day you need it. We plan pickup around your closing, your lease, your container and your flight.

The MCS delivery process

Here's exactly what happens to your car. Day by day. Who does it. What you get.

Moving is stressful enough

Five car worries we take off your plate. Every one backed by something we control.

All our protections →
Worry #1 · "The price will change"

Written Price Guarantee.

You're budgeting a whole move. The quote you sign is the price you pay. Period. Some "price locks" come with a cap. Ask what it is. Ours has none.

How the guarantee works
Worry #2 · "My car will get damaged"

A claim plan, and a $100K policy behind it.

We're still holding the carrier's pay when your car arrives, so a claim gets attention. If the carrier's insurer denies or can't cover a legitimate claim, our own $100,000 contingent cargo policy is behind it. Included on every shipment.

How claims work →
Worry #3 · "It won't show up on time"

Honest dates, because honest prices.

Cars get "delayed" when the broker posted a price no truck will take. We quote what carriers actually want, so your car gets attention. If it's going to be late, we tell you.

See the timeline →
Worry #4 · "I won't know where my car is"

MCS LiveTrack. The tracker is in the car.

Everyone else's "GPS tracking" is the driver's phone. Ours is a device we mail you. It goes in the glovebox. The driver can't turn it off. Optional add-on.

How LiveTrack works →
Worry #5 · "Who is hauling my car?"

A carrier we check, and keep checking.

Insurance lapses. Authority gets pulled. So we monitor our carriers continuously: FMCSA record, insurance verified with the insurer, crash history.

How we vet carriers →
And the one nobody else will say

We never buy or sell your request.

When you fill out our form, one company sees it. Us. Your phone won't ring 12 times tomorrow. That's also why we can quote you honestly. We're not racing a dozen other brokers to the lowest fake number.

An MCS LiveTrack GPS tracker being placed in a car's glovebox before pickup

A true story

The driver abandoned his truck. The carrier had no idea where it was. LiveTrack did.

A customer added MCS LiveTrack to her shipment for peace of mind. Partway through the trip, the driver quit and walked away from the truck, with every car still on it.

The carrier didn't know where its truck had ended up. The tracker did. We gave them the exact location right away, they sent a new driver, and the cars were delivered.

You've got a family to move. You shouldn't have to wonder where your car is. With LiveTrack, you don't.

Why every car shipping website looks the same

You fill out one form. A dozen brokers get it. The lowest number wins. Then the number changes.

That's not a bad apple. That's the business model. Every broker hires trucks from the same load board. The only things a broker actually controls are how honest the quote is, who they assign your car to, and what happens to your money.

The last 20 years of car shipping

  1. An instant calculator gives you a low number. It's built to win the click, not to be right.
  2. You put down a deposit. The broker posts your car on the board at a price no truck will take.
  3. Two days before pickup: "The carrier needs $400 more." You have a flight. You pay.
  4. A driver you've never heard of shows up. You hand him cash at delivery. Now he has the car and the money. If there's a dent, good luck.
  5. "GPS tracking" is an app on the driver's phone. He turns it off. You call the broker. The broker calls the driver. Nobody answers.

How Mr. Car Shipper works

  1. Your price is built from what carriers are being paid on your route right now. In writing. It doesn't move.
  2. No deposit. Your card is charged on pickup day, and we hold every dollar until your car is delivered and inspected.
  3. Your car goes on a carrier we background check: FMCSA record, insurance verified with the insurer (not a PDF the driver emailed), crash history, fleet checks.
  4. Want to watch the car? Add LiveTrack: a GPS tracker in your glovebox. The driver can't turn it off.
  5. Car arrives. You inspect it. Then, and only then, the carrier gets paid. If there's damage, our claims manager walks you through it.

Questions families ask before they trust a car shipping company

How much does it cost to ship a car across the country?

For a running sedan or SUV on an open carrier, most 1,000–2,500 mile moves land between [LOW] and [HIGH] depending on the route, the season, and whether the truck is passing your ZIP or has to detour to it. Anyone who gives you a number without looking at this week's rates on your route is guessing, and guessing low on purpose. Ours is built from what carriers are actually paid on your route right now, then we put it in writing. What drives the price.

How fast can I get a quote?

Most prices come back online in a few minutes. If yours needs a second look, a person checks it. Either way, a real person on our team calls you to confirm the details, talk through your dates, and answer anything you want to ask. Rather talk first? Call (877) 421-1284 and a person answers.

Why did my quote from another company go up after I booked?

Because it was never a real price. The broker posted your car on the load board for less than any truck would take, waited, then called you with "the carrier needs more." Move.org's mystery shoppers found the average jump was $277. Our quote is guaranteed in writing with no cap. If a truck costs more than we quoted, that's our problem, not yours.

Do I pay the driver cash at delivery?

Not with us. Ever. You pay Mr. Car Shipper by credit card at pickup. We hold the money until your car is delivered and you've inspected it. The carrier gets paid after. That's the whole reason we have leverage if something goes wrong, and the reason a driver never has your car and your cash at the same time.

We have two cars. Can you ship both?

Yes. A lot of families ship both, and a lot of families drive one and ship the other. Put both cars on one quote and we'll try to get them on the same truck. Shipping three or more? Ask about our multi-car pricing.

What happens if my car is damaged during shipping?

You note it on the delivery inspection and call us the same day. We're still holding the carrier's pay, which is why the claim gets handled instead of ignored. Then we help you pick the fastest path to a repair: usually the carrier's cargo policy, but often we'll recommend filing with your own auto insurer first. You get the car fixed sooner and for a smaller deductible, and your insurer collects from the carrier afterward. If the carrier's insurer denies or can't cover a legitimate claim, our own $100,000 contingent cargo policy is behind it.

Can I track my car while it's being shipped?

Yes, and unlike everyone else, you're tracking the car, not the driver's phone. With MCS LiveTrack we mail you a small GPS device. It goes in the glovebox before pickup. You see where your car is the whole way, from the hotel, the airport or the new kitchen floor. The driver can't switch it off. LiveTrack is an add-on service. How LiveTrack works.

How far ahead should I book if I'm moving?

Three to four weeks is ideal, especially May through September. Give us the first day the car can go and the day you need it, and we'll build the pickup around your closing, your lease, your container and your flight. Shorter notice is usually fine. It just costs more, and we'll tell you that up front instead of after.

Are you a broker or a carrier?

A broker, and we'll say it plainly, because the ones who won't are the ones to worry about. No single carrier covers every route. A broker's job is to find the right truck and stand between you and it. The difference is what the broker does with that position: we hold the money, own the insurance, monitor the carrier daily, and can put a tracker in your car. A note from the owner

I started this company in 2002 with one truck. I drove it.

So I know what happens on the other end of that phone call when a broker says "the carrier needs more." I know what a driver does when nobody's watching. And I know how a damage claim goes when the broker has no leverage and no policy, because for 23 years I've watched the rest of this industry do it that way.

I also know what a move does to a family. The boxes, the closing, the school records, the goodbye party. You don't need one more thing to manage. So we built every piece of this to take the car off your plate: a written price, your money held until delivery, a carrier we keep checking, a tracker in your car if you want one, and two real people who answer. If any of it doesn't happen the way this page says, I want to hear about it.
